Passing

This post is kind of outdated, but I forgot to blog about it yesterday. Yesterday I went to a funeral. My husband's boss, the owner of Rasta, passed away. He underwent an operation for his heart the previous day, but couldn't be saved. He wasn't very old, maybe around 60 plus. During the funeral, I saw that it hit the youngest son the hardest. He was crying since morning, even after the father was buried he still cried. The wife was okay at first, but after the solat jenazah she seemed to break down as it sunk in that her husband was gone. I still can't believe that he's not around anymore. I still somehow expect to see him in his black Pajero at Rasta.

Last night I spoke to someone who used to talk with the Rasta Owner a lot. She told me that last year he told her he didn't want to live long. Two or three years and that's it. He didn't want to live with a sickness. He also said that if ever gets sick, he doesn't want to be sick for long, only a day or two. I suppose if that's the case, he got his wish.

When I was at the funeral, people around the grave were sitting down by his grave, and many even sat on the neighboring graves. This makes me sad as these people seem to not have respect for the dead. It is forbidden in Islam to sit on graves as in the hadith below

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If one of you were to sit on a live coal and have it burn his clothes until it reached his skin, that would be better for him than sitting on a grave.” [Sunan Abu Dawud]
