Of Friendships And Engagements

A dear friend of mine got engaged today. Her road to engagement was paved with trouble and full of obstacles, but they managed to pull through. She didn't have support from her own family, people had so much to say left and right, but not one person wanted to help. Her own mother was so against it that she said all sorts of things to make people object. This made me very sad for her at the time, because if you don't have your family behind you, who else do you have?

Lucky for her, his family is very understanding and treats her like their own child, so she had their support all the way. And she also has good friends who will help her and be there for her no matter what. I guess this goes to show that blood doesn't determine family. It's your relationship with each other and the bond that you have that makes you a family.

I am very happy for these two, as they have manged to persevere and overcome obstacles in their way. May they walk down the path to marriage more peacefully.

Oh...and in case you ere wondering, no, her mother didn't attend the engagement.
