Superman, Spiderman, Batman...these were among our favourite superheroes growing up, and in recent years their heroic adventures have been relived in full length action movies, renewing our passion for them and reintroducing them to the younger generation. Superheroes are full of mystery, with interesting life-changing back stories. Nobody knows what they do when they're not saving the world. Have you ever wondered how your favourite superheroes get around when they're not busy keeping peace in the Marvel or DC Universe? Here are some superhero alter-egos and the cars they drive.
Thor/Chris Hemsworth
Thor may have superhuman strength and endurance, but his alter-ego still prefers to drive a practical SUV. Chris Hemsworth, who played the titular character in the movie Thor and also in The Avengers, drives an Acura MDX, the first crossover SUV to come with a third row of seats. This model was also featured in The Avengers.
Iron Man/Robert Downey Jr.
Another member of The Avengers, Iron Man – played by Robert Downey Jr. – is more of an Audi fan. Although in the movie he drove a custom made Acura NSX Roadster, in real life he drives a black Audi A7 S-Line. It has a 3-liter TDI V6 engine and can go from 0 to 60mph in just 6.7 seconds. This car also features speed-limit-recognition technology, radar sensors to detect slow or stopped vehicles ahead, blind-spot monitoring, active cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. It's equipped with seven gears and a dual-clutch transmission. Dubbed as the most beautiful of all Audis, it's truly fitting for our fun-loving billionaire philanthropist Tony Stark.
Spiderman/Andrew Garfield
Spiderman doesn't always go everywhere via web-swinging; he also owns a black Audi A7 S-Line similar to Iron Man's, but Andrew Garfield has also been spotted driving a Porsche Panamera and a Chevrolet Equinox LTZ.
Wolverine/Hugh Jackman
Arguably the manliest and most aggressive member of the X-Men, Wolverine rode a 1963 Harley Davidson DuoGlide FLH in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, Hugh Jackman seems to have tamer tastes, driving around in an Audi Q7. According to Jackman, he likes the car because it has enough room for the kids and also has good pickup. Being a certified stunt driver, this actor from down under definitely knows what he's talking about.
Invisible Woman/Jessica Alba
The Invisible Woman goes green in her GMC Yukon Hybrid, which is big enough for her shopping and also to take her children around, but also powerful and fuel efficient. Jessica Alba is truly a family woman, not driving the sleek sports cars expected of superstars. It also emphasizes safety, with six airbags, automatic crash response, Stabilitrak with traction control and anti-lock brakes, so she doesn't need to activate her invisible forcefield in case of a crash. She really loves her hybrids, as she has also been spotted in a Toyota Prius.
Batman/Christian Bale
Batman may have the Batmobile, but it seems Christian Bale prefers something less striking and more high-performance. He has recently replaced his 1995 BMW 325i with a 1999 Mercedes C43 AMG, which unlike the image of luxury dream car associated with Mercedes-Benz, is valued more for performance than looks. It has a five speed automatic transmission with anti-lock brakes and ESP stability which makes it more of a drivers' car. Despite Batman's preference to stand out, Bale has never been known for flamboyancy.
Storm/Halle Berry
With the power to fly anywhere using wind, Storm doesn't need a hybrid to go green, but Halle Berry uses a Lexus RX400h. Other than the Lexus hybrid, she also drives a regular Honda CR-V.
Black Widow/Scarlet Johansson
The sexiest Avengers member, Black Widow also chooses fuel efficiency with the Toyota Prius. Like many celebrity moms, she prefers practicality and fuel effiency over style.
Elektra/Jennifer Garner
